Police are warning people to beware of bogus workmen who conned an elderly resident out of a large sum of money in Kirkintilloch.
Three fraudsters turned up at a house in Andrew Avenue around noon on Monday. They told the owner they wanted to check work they had previously carried out under guarantee.
They then claimed additional repairs were needed, demanded a four-figure sum, then fled with the cash without doing any work.
A police spokesman at Kirkintilloch said: “This was a bogus incident and we are appealing to anyone who saw these men in the area on Monday afternoon between noon and 4pm to get in touch with police on 101.”
