POLICE say they have been “inundated” with calls after the shooting of a man in Bishopbriggs on Christmas Eve.

The 23-year-old was rushed to hospital after being shot at around 12.30pm near Bishopbriggs Golf Range, in the town’s Crosshill Road.

Shortly afterwards four men were seen running in the direction of Strathkelvin Retail Park.

The area was quickly surrounded by police, but no arrests were made.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he received emergency treatment. He has since been released.

Earlier in the day, at around 2am, another shooting took place in nearby Springburn – seriously injuring a 36-year-old man who was walking on Galloway Street.

The victim was shot by the passenger of a car which sped past him on the street.

Police confirmed on Friday that it was likely the two shootings were linked, adding “enquiries are still very much ongoing”.

Anybody with information about either of the shootings is asked to contact Baird Street CID on 0141 532 4236.
