MP McClymont has been appointed Shadow Pensions Minister in Labour leader Ed Miliband’s recent shadow cabinet reshuffle.
The MP for Kirkintilloch East said: “When Ed phoned me I had no inkling of what was coming. The pensions brief is a big job, but one I will relish.
“Pensions is one of the greatest issues facing this country. It is the issue which dominates my mailbag.
“I have received more letters, e-mails and phone calls from constituents about pensions than any other issue.”
The promotion follows Mr McClymont’s previous appointments as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland Ann McKechin, and a subsequent move to the Labour frontbench as an assistant whip.
