Proud new mum Yvonne Jones gave birth to her baby girl just under 10 minutes before the royal baby arrived.

Little Cassidy was born at 4.15pm, weighing 6lbs 10oz. Parents Yvonne and Iain, both 27, live in Lennoxtown.

Cassidy wasn’t due to arrive until August 8 and Iain dashed home from working in Nigeria for the birth on Monday.

Yvonne said: “I was really pleased when I heard Cassidy was born the same day as the royal baby. We were celebrating finding out I was pregnant on the same day it was announced that Kate and William were expecting their baby. It was a huge coincidence.”

Meanwhile, delighted parents Gillian and Matthew Beattie, from Robroyston, also welcomed their baby boy into the world just hours before the royal arrival – George Alexander Louis.

Jake was born by caesarean section at 10.49am. He is little brother to Isla (3). Gillian (35) said: “It’s really exciting Jake was born the same day as the royal baby.”
