ANTI-social quadbikers are using a scenic path as a RACETRACK, it has been claimed.
Police have been urged to crack down on neds using the machines on the Strathkelvin Walkway, particularly between Lennox Castle and Strathblane.
Campsie and Kirkintilloch North councillor John Dempsey has received a number of complaints.
There are fears that the bikers could collide with a walker and that fears over safety are keeping residents away from the area.
Councillor Dempsey said: “A representative of Strathkelvin Ramblers approached me regarding her concerns about the safety of the public using the walkway
“They felt intimidated and frightened and, although the quad bikes had registration plates, they were unfortunately going too fast to read.”
He added: “This matter was previously raised at the local community council with regards to the safety of mothers with prams and toddlers using the walkway. It would be a tragedy if the public were to become afraid of using the walkway because of the quad bikes.”
A spokesperson for Kirkintilloch Police said: “We have a number of police who are tasked with looking after this area on off-road bikes and are aware of the issue.
“We would urge anybody who has any information about the people involved to get in touch.”
If you know who the quadbikers are you can call the police on 0141 532 4400.
