Remembering the soldiers who fought in World War One

East Dunbartonshire Council is the first council in the country to dedicate outdoor recreational space for permanent protection in memory of those who lost their lives during World War I.

In a ceremony on Monday, November 9 Allander Park, Milngavie will be dedicated as a Centenary Field.

Centenary Fields is a programme from national charity Fields in Trust, in partnership with poppyscotland and The Royal British Legion to mark the centenary of World War I.

Fields in Trust Chief Executive Helen Griffiths said: “This programme is a fitting way for us to mark the sacrifices made by so many in World War I whilst looking to the future through a living remembrance. We look forward to many more landowners following their lead.”
