Resident disturbs charity conman

BEWARE of bogus charity collectors - that’s the message after a suspicious man fled from a Kirkintilloch house.

A woman who lives in Border Way, Kirkintilloch, had put out a bag of clothes for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

A man with a foreign accent came to her door to take the bag on Monday, April 16, But when the woman asked him for identification, he rushed off in a white van.

Ronald McDonald House Charities said their collectors should be wearing a charity t-shirt and carry ID.

The charity raises much needed funds for families of seriously ill children by providing free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK, including Yorkhill in Glasgow.

Residents who suspect something suspicious can call Ronald McDonald House Charities on 0121 253 3591 or email info@rmhc.org.uk

Police have asked that locals try and take note of details including a description of the person and the make, model and registration of a vehicle.
