THIS weekend’s league game is a “must-win” for Rob Roy as they march towards the second half of the season.

Rob Roy currently sit fourth in the table and three points against strugglers Largs Thistle are essential to keep up the pressure on the league leaders.

With no competitive match at the weekend Rob Roy players grabbed the opportunity to run out against a high-flying team of professionals on Saturday.

Rabs gave a good account of themselves during a 2-0 defeat to Annan Athletic – who currently top the Scottish Third Division and are in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Gaffer Jimmy Lindsay said: “It was a great match and both teams played some great football in very difficult conditions.

“I like to get the boys to take on a professional side so that they can see what we’re looking for. We also had a few guys back from injury which was a positive.

“The match against Largs is a must-win game for us. We know that they will make it difficult, but we have to get the full points if we are going to do something this season.”

He added: “I’d like to take the chance to wish Kevin Findlayson, who recently left the club, all the best. He was meant to play four games for us but injured his knee and decided to call it a day after two.”

Saturday’s game against Largs Thistle is at Adamslie Park. Kick-off is at 1.45pm.

Meanwhile, Rossvale finally collected their second league win in junior football after beating fellow-strugglers St Albert 2-1. The victory lifted them off the bottom of the league for the first time in weeks – they now lead Stonehouse Violet by two points.

Vale’s last three points came on the opening day of the season and the players and management will now hope they can turn the season around.

This week they take on St Roch’s at Provanmill Park. Kick-off is at 1.45pm.
