A couple who had their first date at The Clachan of Campsie became the first bride and groom to tie-the-knot in a picturesque cafe in the area.

Alexandra Henderson and Michael Burke said ‘I do’ in the Aldessan Cafe in the square.

Alexandra said: “As far as we are aware, ours is the first wedding to take place there.

“I left Kirky when I was 15 but have always returned on a regular basis to The Clachan and The Campsie Hills.

“My husband and I had our first date at The Clachan and got engaged on the Campsie Hills, so there was no other place we wanted to get
married.

“A family friend ,Pastor David Ramage, agreed to conduct the ceremony and all the staff at The Aldessan Cafe and the nearby Practical Magic shop helped decorate the area and made our day totally magical. We were also given permission to have our photos taken in the beautiful gardens of the Schoenstatt Retreat Centre. The Clachan and surrounding area is one of exceptional beauty and I would urge anyone to go and have a look if they are in the process of planning their wedding.”
