Jog Scotland Milngavie has an unusual event planned for their runners on Thursday, August 4 in Milngavie precinct.

Participants will be asked to take part in a Treasure Hunt in return for a donation to a great cause - Crohns and Colitis UK.

The event has been organised by one of the run leaders Dawn Hunter from Milngavie to help 19-year-old Katie Gibb who is in the running for Miss Scotland.

Katie, who is a member of a running club in Maryhill, wanted to raise cash for this charity because her mum Angela suffers from ulcerative colitis and her mum’s best friend ‘Auntie Jackie’ has had Crohn’s disease since she was in her 20s.

Katie said: “My mum has a really tough time.

“She continues to work with children with special needs but often has to rush to the toilet.

“Mum can have several weeks of immense pain and inflammation - it’s a really awful condition to live with.”

And her Auntie Jackie, now in her 40s, also feels unwell a lot, she has undergone several major operations to remove parts of her colon.

Everyone is being asked to wear something purple on the night.

The fastest group will be running about 8 or 9k and the slower group will be doing about 5k.
