POLICE are warning pupils to beware after a young girl was left terrified when a teenage boy made an inappropriate remark to her in a children’s play area.

The girl was in the facility near Smith Way in Bishopbriggs when she was approached by the boy on Friday, May 13, at around 7.30pm.

The teenager is described as being aged between 15 and 18. He was wearing dark clothes and was on a bike.

He made off towards Broomton Road and Nairnside Road.

Police are not disclosing any details about the young victim.

Detective Constable Willie Brockie of Kirkintilloch CID is appealing for information.

He said: “The wee girl was not physically hurt, but it was frightening for her.

“We are checking CCTV as well as carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area to see if anyone saw this boy or was approached by him either that day or prior to this happening.

“Any incident like this is taken very seriously, and so officers will also be in touch with local schools and the council to make them aware of the incident and offer any safety advice.

“Extra officers will be patrolling the area and will welcome any approach from concerned members of the public.”
