Scottish Water urges residents to stay safe this summer

RESIDENTS are being warned to play safe near water this summer.

Scottish Water says rivers, lochs and reservoirs can have hidden dangers such as steep banks, underwater plant life and deep cold water.

It is now urging residents not to swim in its reservoirs or take ‘unnecessary risks’ around water during the hot weather.

Mark Maclaren, Scottish Water’s regional community manager, said: “While it’s important that people enjoy the good weather and take pleasure in the country’s beautiful lochs, rivers and reservoirs, it’s also vital they stay safe.

“We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but we are reminding parents to keep their children safe and asking adults to act responsibly around watercourses.”
