The Local Coaching and Volunteer Awards 2014 have been launched by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, supported by the council and sportscotland.

Nominations are being sought for a range of awards, all aiming to highlight the tremendous work going on in schools, leisure centres, sports clubs and facilities across the area.

Others include Disability Coach of the Year, Volunteer Award, Contribution To Sport, Active Schools Volunteer of the Year and Active Schools Captain of the Year.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of development and regeneration at the council, said: “We are lucky to have such a diverse range of talented coaches and volunteers in East Dunbartonshire.

“I would urge everyone involved with sport in East Dunbartonshire to pick up or download a form and make a nomination.”

Scott Hill, chair of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, added: “Now is your chance to recognise some of the truly inspirational coaches and volunteers working locally.”
