Police are hunting an attacker who sexually assaulted a teenage girl in Bearsden.

The incident happened on Wednesday, June 10, but has only just been made public.

Around 10pm on the Wednesday night, a 14 year old girl was walking on the public footpath within Mosshead Park between the entrance at Morven Road and exit at Stockiemuir Avenue when a man grabbed her and touched her inappropriately. She managed to get away from him and ran off.

The suspect is described as white, around 30 years of age between 5 ft 9 and 6 ft 2 inches in height and of slim/skinny build. He has dark brown, short, wavy hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing a dark grey long sleeved shirt with dark buttons which was tucked into blue denim jeans with a brown leather belt and silver coloured buckle.

Detective Constable Mark Nelson, from the family protection unit, said: “The park is well used by the local community, in particular dog walkers and joggers and I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the park that night and who may have seen a man acting a little oddly – if you saw anything that seems remotely unusual or suspicious, please do get in touch with us. Also, if anyone has any information or knowledge about the suspect then please do contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Saracen police office on the non-emergency number, 101.

Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
