BAKING, art, photography, crafts and writing are just some of the competition categories for this year’s Kirkintilloch Agricultural and Countryside Show.

The 152nd show is taking place at Crofthead, Bishopbriggs, on Saturday, May 21.

Would-be entrants can start practising now for the Industrial Section at the show, organised by Kirkintilloch and District Agricultural Society.

Categories include:

* Eight years and under: sweetie face on a plate; drawing of safari park; Indian head-dress; and funny vegetable.

* Nine-12 years: homemade lemonade; peppermint creams (x4); shortbread (x4); origami model; photo of a plant; and limerick with drawing.

* Thirteen-adult: cup cakes (x4); large apple tart; truffles (x4); dried flower arrangement; photo of ‘Iconic Bridge’; walking stick (Highland Show); watercolour painting ‘Mountain Glory’; and ‘Selkirk Grace’ in calligraphy.

Entrants are asked to drop off their efforts between 9am and 10am on May 21, with your name and age in an envelope.

People are asked to consider healthy options when baking and recycling in craft entries. Exhibits should be mainly your own work.
