There were calls this week for road signs on a new bypass to be fixed before there is a serious accident.

The Herald has been inundated with calls from angry drivers who say temporary road signs put on the new Moodiesburn Bypass are causing chaos.

The bypass is part of a multi-million pound project to upgrade the A80 and was opened last month.

One motorist said: “It is a nightmare, especially if you are coming onto the bypass from the Kirkintilloch Link Road. It is difficult enough driving on a new, unfamiliar road without this nonsense.

“I’ve stopped using the road because the last time I ended up in Cumbernauld when I was heading for Glasgow.”
