Special needs club lands a funding boost

A Muirhead charity which supports children and adults with special needs has secured £500 funding from a regional builder.

St Barbaras Special Needs Club have received a £500 cash boost from Persimmon Homes West Scotland’s Community Champions scheme.

Helping to offer entertainment and solace, the club operates twice a week and provides games, sports, music and crafts for children and adults with special needs.

It also welcomes parents and families, allowing them a well deserved break in a supportive environment.

Providing all the equipment themselves, the club will use the funding to pay for sports kit, craft materials and a printer.

It will also contribute towards presents for every member of the club to enjoy at their annual Christmas party.

Debbie McCann, Volunteer at St. Barbaras Special Needs Club, said: “Without funding from organisations such as Persimmon, we would not be able to run the club.

“We are so grateful for this donation and amazed by the generosity of Persimmon Homes West Scotland. It is very much appreciated by us all.”
