Speeding motorists targeted at action day

Speeding drivers and dangerous parking at schools have been targeted in a special community action day.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s community protection team joined up with police and fire and rescue at the event at Auchinairn.

A similar action day is taking place at Hillhead today (Wednesday) with more to follow at Lennoxtown on Wednesday, December 13 and Huntershill on Wednesday, January 31.

At the event at Auchinairn, a council spokesman said a number of penalty notices were issued, including parking at schools and for speeding, along with other enforcement warnings.

She said there were also visits to licensed premises, vehicle idling patrols, checks for dog fouling, food hygiene inspection and food sampling visits, vehicle idling patrols, checks for dog fouling, food hygiene inspections, dog fouling, littering and fly tipping, as well as road safety vehicle stops, speeding checks and problem tenant visits.
