Staff at Specsavers didn’t wane as they waxed their way to an impressive £1500 total for Red Nose Day.

Staff at the Kirkintilloch opticians asked customers to dig deep in support of Comic Relief during the fundraisers which included a bake sale and a ‘draw a funny face’ competition.

The highlight of the store’s fundraising activities was a sponsored leg wax. Brave optical assistant Drew McCallum and store director Neil Drain allowed dispensing manager Lesley Young to wax their legs to raise funds for Comic Relief.

The store also stocked Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses in small and large sizes, costing £3 with £1 donated to Comic Relief, and helped the firm to an amazing £335,000 charity total.

Neil Drain said: ‘I think both Drew and I did really well to grin and bear the pain of the leg waxing! We’d like to thank all our customers for their support and encouragement during our fundraising events. All our staff are so pleased that we were able to contribute a great amount to Specsavers’ total.’’

Specsavers in Kirkintilloch joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Red Nose Day to help poor and vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.
