Students aiming to help people spend wise

A student from Kirkintilloch is helping fellow students and Credit Union customers to save money

As part of a ‘Moving Onto Work’ course at Glasgow Clyde College, Derek Graham (22) has worked with his classmates to producing a booklet that highlights the benefits of shopping around and the dangers of getting into debt.

Derek, a former pupil of Merkland School, said: “I like to save money myself, so the project was fun to work on. It got us to work in a group and prepare for life. Hopefully, it will help people think about buying things in places they wouldn’t normally think of.”

The booklet is now available in credit unions across Glasgow and has been entered into the ‘Money For Life Challenge’ competition which will take place in London later this year.
