WORKERS at East Dunbartonshire Council have been suspended while an investigation is carried out into allegations.

The council said it couldn’t comment further, but it’s believed the allegations relate to employees selling on scrap metal following work at council properties and goods collected through special uplifts.

Ann Davie, East Dunbartonshire Council’s head of customer relations and organisational development, said: “I can confirm that as a precautionary measure the council has suspended a number of individuals under our disciplinary procedures policy.

“A precautionary suspension is not a disciplinary measure, but allows us to conduct an investigation into allegations.”

The council official added: “We are unable to comment any further whilst the matter is under investigation.”
