POLICE swooped on suspected drug dealers during an early morning raid in Kirkintilloch.
Around 50 officers were involved in Operation Icon.
Cops wearing helmets and dressed in padded riot gear stormed into seven homes simultaneously in the town during the raid at around 7am last Wednesday morning.
Nine people - seven men aged between 32 and 49 and two women aged 24 and 36 - were arrested and later charged with alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. They were due to appear in court last week.
The investigation has been under way for several months and police have hailed it as a success.
Chief Inspector Brian McInulty said: "We carry out an annual public consultation and the people in Kirkintilloch listed drug dealing as one of three priorities to address and we have taken that on board.
"The operation was intelligence led from the public.
"A lot of work went into the operation and we hope it will have a big impact on the availability of class 'A' drugs as well as reassuring the public."
The Chief Inspector added: "We would urge members of the public who have information related to drug dealing to get in touch with us."
A small quantity of drugs, believed to be heroin, cocaine and valium were also seized by officers, the exact quantities and estimated street value are unknown at this time.
