Local officers from Kirkintilloch Police Office, with the assistance of specialist officers from Police Scotland Dog Branch, have traced the owner and removed the dog to an SPCA centre.
A 27-year-old woman from Hillhead has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a contravention of the Dangerous Dogs Act.
The alleged incident took place last Tuesday, July 30.
Community Policing Inspector Keith Bartlettsaid: “Thankfully, on this occasion the girl’s injuries were not serious, but could easily have been worse and the Procurator Fiscal will decide what happens to the dog.
