A LIVELY lady is still popping into Kirkintilloch to do her shopping – at the grand old age of 100.

Lilias (Lily) Lennie celebrated her milestone recently with a special dinner among friends and family.

Lily said: “There’s no secret, but I do recognise that we are given a span of years and it’s in the Lord’s hands after that. I’ve done most things in moderation and just take every day as it comes. Also, a happy marriage of more than 50 years has contributed.”

The sprightly Muirhead resident doesn’t let life pass her by, either.

She celebrated her 99th birthday last year by visiting her grandchildren Grier and Euan in Australia.

“And she still gets out and about,” said her son Stuart (pictured).

“She still pops into Kirky for her messages.”

As well as a card from The Queen, Lily got a visit from North Lanarkshire Provost James Robertson, who gave her a lovely bouquet of flowers.
