Thousands stolen in Post Office raid

Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery at a Post Office on Friday.

Shortly before 8am two men entered the Post Office in Quarrywood Avenue, Barmulloch, and threatened the member of staff with a knife and demanded money. The theft is reported to have been in the region of £40,000.

The 27 year-old man was not injured in the incident, however he has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

The suspects made off with a five-figure sum of cash. Both suspects are white and one of them was around 35-40 years with short brown hair and wearing a black jumper.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hunter said:“We have been are carrying our door-to-door enquiries and are in the process of collecting CCTV images from the surrounding area.

‘‘There are a number of other shops in this area and people may have seen the two men prior to or after the incident, I am therefore appealing to anyone who was in the area or any local residents to contact us .”
