Threatened and robbed at Briggs bookies

PUB patrons could hold the key to catching a thug who targeted a bookmakers in Bishopbriggs.

A worker at the William Hill shop on Auchinairn Road, was left badly shaken after being threatened and robbed of a three figure sum of cash.

The shop was targeted on Saturday at around 7.35pm.

The suspect ran off in the direction of Littlehill Golf Course. The member of staff was not injured, but was left badly shaken by the ordeal. Police officers are looking at CCTV footage in an effort to trace the robber.

They are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to contact them.

The suspect is described as aged between 30 and 40, around 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket, hooded top, dark trousers and had a black scarf across his face.

Detective Sergeant John Gibson said: “There is a pub, the Glen Bar, and a local shop near to the bookmakers so people may have noticed something a little out of the ordinary or even seen the suspect prior to or following the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch with us - they may have information which could help us trace the man responsible.”

The incident comes just two weeks after another shop in Auchinairn was robbed.

The First Choice superstore was targeted by two men on Friday, October 21, who made off with the cash register.
