PLANS that could transform Kirkintilloch Town Centre are set to be announced by council chiefs.
The Herald can reveal that East Dunbartonshire Council is currently in talks with stakeholders and community groups in a bid to draw up a masterplan to develop and attract investment to the town.
The scheme, to be officially announced in the next two weeks, will include a number of linked projects and is expected to finally determine the future of Kirkintilloch Town Hall.
Derek Cunningham, director of development and infrastructure at East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “The council’s development and enterprise service is working on a strategic plan for the regeneration of the town centre.
“This work will involve creating a masterplan to outline the vision for Kirkintilloch town centre and will provide a context within which individual projects can be delivered in a structured manner.”
