Town Centre Plans on Positive Track

Ambitious plans to transform Bishopbriggs town centre could be included in the blueprint for a new supermarket.

Bishopbriggs Town Team members say they believe proposals to redevelop the town centre are ‘heading in the right direction’ following a meeting with representatives from supermarket giants Morrisons.

The town team presented its ‘vision’ for the town centre, which was created by architects Page and Park, to Morrisons earlier this month.

The vision, which was drawn up following feedback from residents, includes proposals for a community hub, a new St Matthew’s Church and a wedge garden square.

Dominic Notarangelo, a member of the town team, said: “Morrisons have talked us through their proposals and they are going to consider including our proposals in the plans.

“It’s very positive. Everyone is moving in the spirit of co-operation and seems to have the same objective in mind.”

Morrisons own the former Bishopbriggs High School site and plan to build a new supermarket.
