CAMPAIGNERS hoping to restore Kirkintilloch Town Hall to its former glory are looking for more people to join them.

Kirkintilloch Town Hall Preservation Trust has led a campaign to raise funds to regenerate the building and turn it into a community facility, after it was closed by the council in 2004.

The building is in a deteriorating state. The trust wants to buy it from the council and secure funding to restore it.

But the group is looking for more members.

Vice-president Pam McGaughrin said: “We are losing our treasurer and have no secretary. We also need people to help with fundraising.”

East Dunbartonshire Council is about to start a consulting exercise on a masterplan to regenerate Kirkintilloch town centre.

All views, including those on the town hall site, will help shape the plans.

Kirkintilloch Town Hall Preservation Trust is holding its AGM tonight (Wednesday, Ocotber 19) in the Park Centre at 7.30pm.

All are welcome to attend.
