A CLUB champion golfer has capped off a great year by landing a prestigious trophy.
Talented Jorden Ferrie (16), a member at Kirkintilloch Golf Club, lifted the Donald Ross Junior Open Trophy at Royal Dornoch golf course after winning the girls section by an amazing nine shots.
The competition, which was played over one round on the championship course and one round on the nearby Struie course, is a much sought after title and attracts many of the top amateur golfers in Scotland.
The five-handicapper has already had success this year, winning the Ladies Club Championship at Kirkintilloch Golf Club.
Jorden told the Herald: “I am delighted to have won this trophy as the competition attracts a lot of good golfers. It was a great experience for me competing in this competition and I could not have imagined that I would have won it in the manner I did.”
She added: “I have been working hard on my game all year and been playing really well. I will continue to work hard and hopefully keep on improving.”
Speaking on behalf of Kirkintilloch Golf Club, Captain Billy Campbell said: “Jorden has had a great year and everybody at the golf club is delighted for her.
“She works really hard on her game in all weathers and has shown the dedication needed to compete at the very highest level of the junior game.”
