Bands also marched through the streets as part of a parade marking the start of the gala fun.

The Lenzie Gala is seen as the centrepiece community event of the calendar year – giving locals the opportunity to discover things going on in their area which they may not otherwise have known anything about.

A number of charities seized the chance to spread the word about themselves and also recruit new volunteers for their vital work.

There was a terrific range of entertainment and displays for all the family.
