KIRKINTILLOCH Canal Festival was a splash hit with around 20,000 people attending the popular week-long event.
Despite the rain, crowds flocked to the finale of the festival at the weekend.
Get Active Saturday saw families make the best of the canal for boat trips, canoe lessons, cycling, walking, and much more.
The day was topped off with live music and fireworks, watched by more than 2,000 people.
Gala Sunday is always a firm favourite and this year the town’s streets were jam packed as families enjoyed all the fun of the fair, fun on the water, live music, dancing, exhibitions, classic cars, a model railway and street theatre.
Council leader Rhondda Geekie told the Herald: “The festival has become an important annual event for local traders, providing a boost to the local economy. Hundreds of people also took time out on Sunday to look at the plans that the council had displayed about the masterplan for Kirkintilloch town centre. There’s a real sense of community spirit in Kirkintilloch and it’s an exciting time for the town and its people.”
