A thug with a knife robbed a grocer’s shop of a three figure sum of cash.

The man targeted the shop in Lochend Road, Gartcosh, on Friday, June 21 at around 3.30pm. He presented a bladed

instrument at the female shop worker before demanding cash. He then fled in a white van.

The suspect is described as being around 6ft tall and was wearing a blue hoodie and a mask.

Strathkelvin councillor Frances McGlinchey says the incident adds weight to the need for a neighbourhood watch service.

Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbernauld Police on 01236 503 900.
