What do you think of major house plans?

PLANS to build around 60 homes in a village will be presented to residents on Friday night.

Stewart Milne Homes has submitted a proposal notice to North Lanarkshire Council to build around 60 homes, 25 per cent of which will be for affordable housing, on a site to the south of Langmuirhead Road, in Auchinloch.

Local residents were up in arms earlier this year when developers were given the green light to move in on several greenbelt sites - including Auchinloch - following an independent inquiry by Scottish Government reporters.

North Lanarkshire Council had identified the sites in its draft local plan as ‘no build’ zones, but developers lodged an appeal against the plan.

A spokesperson for Stewart Milne Homes said: “Following approval of the site’s designation by the council as suitable for housing, we are bringing forward some exciting plans which will provide a range of new houses for families, as well as around 15 new affordable homes.

“We look forward to explaining these plans to local residents at the exhibition.”

The proposals will be on show at a public exhibition in Auchinloch Primary School this Friday, November 23, between 3pm and 7pm, and Saturday, November 24, from 9am and 1pm.

Residents will get the chance to meet officials from Stewart Milne Homes and their consultants, and question them on the plans. Visitors will be invited to provide feedback on the development plans.
