AMBITIOUS plans have been lodged for a wind turbine in Chryston.

Aggregate Industries and AGRenewables wants to install a turbine – with a maximum height of 87m – at its kerb and paving slab manufacturing plant in Auchengeich Road.

The company says it would have an installed capacity of 500kW, generating enough electricity a year to power the equivalent of up to 279 average UK households and offset approximately 565 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The firm has lodged an application with the council and says it is keen to engage with the community and councillors as part of the planning process. For more details visit www.aggregatewindchryston.co.uk
