TREES were uprooted and tiles blown from roofs as gales buffeted East Dunbartonshire.
East Dunbartonshire Council was inundated with calls about blocked streets and pathways last Monday.
Roads which had to be temporarily closed included Shirva Road in Twechar; Redbrae Road, Calfmuir Road and Waterside Road in Kirkintilloch; Huntershill Road in Bishopbriggs, and Campsie Road in Milton of Campsie.
David Devine, the council’s head of roads and neighbourhood services, said: “On Monday night our crews were kept busy throughout the area responding to calls about fallen trees.
“Over the course of the evening, 10 trees were brought down by the winds.
“Roads were blocked by fallen trees and closed for a short time while workers made the area safe.
“At Townhead in Kirkintilloch town centre the footpath was closed for a short period because of falling tiles from the roof of the former Co-op building.”
Mr Devine added: “We would like to thank drivers and pedestrians for their co-operation and patience.”
