Firefighter Stevie McCrorie has thanked everyone for their support in helping to make his dream come true after winning BBC talent show “The Voice” last night (Saturday).

But the 30-year-old father-of-one joked that he hoped his firefighting colleagues would keep his job open for him just incase it doesn’t work out!

Stevie scooped the top prize after he beat off strong competition from Lucy O’Byrne in the grand final, filmed at Elstree Studios.

Stevie said: “It feels like a dream at the moment. I want to provide for my family and be a family man at the same time and this has been amazing.

“The support I have had has been amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough.

“I just hope the fire service keep my job open for me incase I don’t make it big! Please give me my job back if I need it!”

Stevie said he was due to be back working at Kirkcaldy Fire Station this weekend but he is hoping to take some more time off as he promotes his new single “Lost Stars”, which went straight in at number eight in the iTunes chart after its release at midnight yesterday (Saturday).

His wife Amy said: “I’m in shock but I’m so happy - the happiest I have ever been! He has worked so hard for this for so long. I am so proud of him.”

Stevie added: “It’s a dream come true.”
