Woman still serious after being struck by car

A 47-year-old woman is believed to be still “serious” in hospital after she was struck by a car in Bishopbriggs when she was riding her mobility scooter.

The accident happened around 4.10pm on Tuesday outside Bishopbriggs Police Office on Kirkintilloch Road.

Initial police reports said the woman had been struck by a bus.

Ambulance crews treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary around 5pm.

A police spokesman said she suffered “serious but not life threatening injuries,” including a broken leg, a head trauma and fractured ribs.

The road was closed for more than four hours.

A police spokesman said today their enquiries were continuing into the incident.
