A GROUP of dedicated volunteers who deliver meals to the elderly and vulnerable have been presented with long service awards.

Margaret Neely, Sheena Watson and Christine McInnes have each volunteered for 27 years with the WRVS Meals on Wheels service in Bishopbriggs.

Lunches are delivered to 86 people in East Dunbartonshire every day.

WRVS says that people are welcome to make self-referrals to the service. They are also looking for more volunteers.

Jacqueline Gallacher, local services manager, said: “Without volunteers WRVS would not be able to deliver this service. A lot of people who receive meals might not go out or have a lot of people visit them.

“Volunteers provide a little bit of contact.”

Margaret, Sheena and Christine are pictured being presented with medals and flowers from Jacqueline and co-ordinator Pauline Bower.
