CLYDE created their own version of the Great Escape on Saturday to avoid slipping down to the Second Division.
After a long season spent hovering around the relegation zone, the Bully Wee pulled out all the stops to secure a convincing aggregate win in their play-off final with Airdrie United.

Following a 1-0 win in the first leg, John Brown's team knew a goal-less draw at Broadwood would ensure they played First Division football next year.

However, the home side instead went in search of another win, creating plenty of chances and forcing Airdrie keeper Stephen Robertson into pulling off a couple of excellent saves.

Alan Russell could have given Airdrie a lifeline shortly before half-time but Hutton saved well.

After the break, Clyde broke the deadlock when veteran striker Gary McSwegan slid the ball past Robertson and into the net.

Midway through the second half, Pat Clarke headed home to seal the win and Clyde's place in the First Division.
