Euro silver for brave Kirsty
TWO falls didn't stop champion athlete Kirsty McWilliam from adding another medal to her collection at the weekend.
The under-19 British Triathlon Champion battled a tough course to win silver in the ETU European Triathlon Championships in Lisbon.
Kirsty from Milton of Campsie, finished just 12 seconds behind Emmie Charayron from France in the junior race, despite slipping twice in the rain soaked cobbled course.
The 18-year-old completed the gruelling 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run in one hour, four minutes and 36 seconds.
Kirsty said: "I feel a bit disappointed to be honest because I think I probably would have won had I not fallen over twice.
"But I've one more year as a junior and having now won a bronze and a silver medal at the European Championships I'll be looking to win gold in Holland next year."
The Kilsyth Academy pupil won a bronze medal at last year's European Championships and recently took part in the Olympic Torch Relay in London.
She has won gold at the British Triathlon Championships three years in a row, is a two-time British duathlon champion and is currently ranked number one in Scotland.
