CAMPSIE Minerva have been given a tremendous boost after being told they will be playing football in the Premier Division next season.
The Lennoxtown club were left gutted when they missed out on promotion to the Fosters Central Scottish Amateur Football League's top division by just one goal.

However, good news brought a smile back to their faces after Edinburgh side The Spartans resigned from the league after being accepted into the East Region Junior League.

After due consideration by the CSAFL, Minerva were promoted to the Premier Division to replace The Spartans.

Campsie Minerva manager James Lenaghan said: "Naturally, everyone at the club is absolutely delighted.

"Missing out on promotion by the odd goal was hard to take, but this news has certainly put the spring back in our step.

"We are under no illusions however we are now competing with the big boys of amateur football.

"It's certainly a massive challenge for this club that we are delighted to accept. "
