Rob Roy - 4
Stoneyburn - 2
ROB Roy were never in any serious trouble as they advanced to the third round of the Scottish Cup. Their visitors from the east never stopped trying and contributed to an entertaining match.

The opening goal came in the fifth minute. A corner kick
from Grant Anderson soared over the goalmouth and Billy Jones did not let the ball drop as his first time side foot shot hit the net.

In 10 minutes Jonathon Carter put a diagonal cross into the goalmouth and Grant Anderson headed back into the middle where Paul McQuilken's shot was saved by the keeper.

The equaliser came somewhat luckily for Stoneyburn in the 23rd minute. Anton Nugent dropped a high ball as he was barged into by an opponent. L Byle hooked a shot into the net and the goal stood.

Rob Roy looked to restore their lead, but it took until the 35th minute before they came close. The Stoneyburn keeper missed collecting a high free kick and Billy Jones' header was cleared off the line by a defender.

Two minutes later they did find the net. In a scramble in front of goal James Lennox's shot went home after striking a defender.

Just before the interval, Byle turned in a free kick across goal, but Anton Nugent made an early save.

Rob Roy were soon back in attack after the restart. A low shot from Paul McQuilken took a late swerve and McIntosh had to stick out a foot to stop another goal.

Dean Muir played a quick one-two with Paul McDougall before shooting wide. A long cross from Jonathon Carter found Grant Anderson and his 35 yard shot was not too wide of the target. It was Ross Hepburn's turn to cross the ball in 66 minutes and this time McDougall headed home to increase Rob Roy's lead. Six minutes later Grant Anderson won the race for a long ball down field before advancing in on goal and smartly shooting past McIntosh.

The match now seemed over, but Stoneyburn struck back with 15 minutes left. Moore chased a ball into the Rob Roy half and his long range shot found the net.

In the final minute Grant Anderson was sent flying by a wild sliding tackle by K Byle right in front of the pavilion. The Stoneyburn man jumped to his feet and headed for the dressing room without waiting to see the well warranted red card.

Team: Nugent, Carter, Maxwell, McDonald, Lennox, Vaugh (Hepburn), Jones (Ferguson), Muir, McDougall (Docherty), Anderson, McQuilken.
