JOHN Richardson expects his Rob Roy players to have to pull on bullet-proof vests if they want to make it out of the Sectional League Cup group stages this season.
The Rabs manager believes his newly-promoted Premier League team will be targeted as favourites in the group by lower-league rivals Cumbernauld United, Dunipace and Kilsyth Rangers.

He said: "The thing about going into anything as favourites is yo
u are there to be shot down.

"Everyone puts in that extra 20 per cent when they come up against a Premier League team. They will all be looking for a big scalp.

"It shouldn't make too much of a difference though as these games tend to take care of themselves and we'll handle ourselves regardless.

"Although, this will be the only time we will go into anything as favourites this season.

"Once the league starts, we will be the new boys trying to establish ourselves."

Meanwhile, Rob Roy have bolstered their squad yet again.

Former Bellshill and Motherwell midfielder Kevin McDonald has joined the Adamslie side while goalkeeper Kevin Bell has resigned.

This follows on from the signing of six new players last week as Rob Roy prepare for life in the Premier League.

Richardson said: "Everyone is starting to settle in and these boys are all of a good quality.

"We will maybe bring in another couple of defenders then see how things go.

"Overall, it is a wee bit up-and-down in training as you have boys there one week, then away on holiday the next.

"But we are no different from any club in that respect and are just looking forward to the big kick-off."
