Allan Glen’s left out in the cold after unexpected loss

Bishopbriggs team slip to narrow defeat after 15 costly minutes in the second half.

Newton Stewart 20

A POOR display by Glens saw them lose to a not particularly impressive Newton Stewart side.

Handling errors on both side, maybe due to the bitterly cold weather, made for a rather dull game.

The visitors opened the scoring after six minutes with a penalty by Johnston, but Thomson mirrored the act two minutes later to level the score.

A few minutes later McKeown broke from halfway and outpaced the opposition to give Glens the first try of the match. Thomson converted to give the home side a 10-3 lead at the break.

After the restart Newton Stewart took the initiative gaining by far the lion’s share of possession, although it was Glens who first added to their tally with a well-taken penalty by Thomson.

However, over a fifteen minute period the visitors added a penalty and two tries, one by Jenkins from constant forward pressure and one by Armstrong who skipped through a poor home defence. Johnston converted both tries.

In the last minute of the match Hearns touched down out on the wing for Glens from good forward play but the conversion attempt failed giving the visitors the winning points.
