IT is every schoolboy’s dream to captain their country.
For former Bishopbriggs High School pupil Alastair Kellock, that wish has become reality after the 6 ft 8 Glasgow Warriors player was named skipper of Scotland’s 2011 Six Nations rugby campaign.
Big Al has called the accolade the “highlight” of his career.
He said: “I was delighted to make the squad, especially after being out for almost six months with my knee injury after Argentina. Now to be named as captain is a real highlight, particularly with the competition for places.”
The lock forward first experienced captaincy in the age-group teams at Bishopbriggs side Allan Glen’s.
Along with the rest of the Kellock clan, delighted dad Stuart will be at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday for the opening match against France.
He said: “It will be a very proud moment.”
