IT’S been a parfect year for record-breaking Kirkintilloch Golf Club captain Billy Campbell.
Billy, of Kirkintilloch Golf Club, set himself the target of maintaining an amazing +1 handicap when he took over as captain at the start of this season.
But he has done even better – getting his handicap down to +2 – making him one of only three people in the county with that rating.
That means Billy is shooting at least two shots under par in any club medal competition that he plays in.
Billy (44), from Bishopbriggs, said: “It has been a great year for me, both on and off the course.
“Off the course it is a great honour for me to have been captain of Kirkintilloch Golf Club and on the course the fact that I also managed to get my playing handicap to +2 – a feat I have never achieved before – has been the icing on the cake.”
The Campbell golfing dynasty is one that looks set to continue as Billy’s son Jack – also a keen golfer and junior member of Kirkintilloch Golf Club – recently achieved his fifth hole-in-one at the tender age of 14.
The father-of-three is now only one of three people in the county to play off a handicap of +2 and can proudly boast of having Kirkintilloch Golf Club’s lowest-ever recorded handicap.
