Five alive for rampant Watch

CAMPSIE Black Watch produced sizzling football at the weekend, despite the cold weather.

Black Watch 5

Kilwinning Rangers 0

IN a league game played at St Ninian's High School astra-grass pitch, Watch completely dominated the 90 minutes.

Blackies went ahead in the 10th minute. Fine play down the right by Harty ended with McGarrigle sending in a cross that Martin Brogan headed past keeper Richmond.

Watch players were playing with tremendous confidence as they moved the ball about the pitch and continually threatened the visiting goal.

It was 2-0 in the 25th minute, and again it was Brogan who was on the spot to finish off a Finnigan cross.

There was no doubt that although Black Watch players were working extremely hard, it was only because they were enjoying their play.

On the odd occasions Kilwinning attacked they found the Black Watch defenders to be in outstanding form.

Blackies went 3-0 ahead in the 50th minute when Oliver passed cleverly from the left to Barclay, and the striker found the net from a difficult angle.

Brogan completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute. From a Fulton cross, the midfielder beat keeper Richmond from close range.

Kilwinning players were now finding it difficult to put up any resistance as the game became one sided.

Watch went 5-0 up in the 78th minute when Fulton's cross was headed on by Oliver for Barclay to find the net.

The home side might have scored more, as many chances came their way, but they were happy with their impressive performance, which was more important.

Watch: D Tait, D McGarrigle, J Darroch, C Gannon, L Finnigan, A Harty, P Hamilton, M Brogan, S Fulton, J Barclay, M Oliver, K Dougan, A Culbard, C Reid, J McCormick, R Tiffoney.

Black Watch take on Avoca in the West of Scotland Cup at Glasgow Green on Saturday, 2pm kick off.

They will also play Knightswood, at Glencairn Juniors, on Sunday, March 21 in the Scottish Cup semi final. Kick off is at 1pm.

Tote numbers for Saturday were 45 and 47. There was no winner, 300 next week.
