Long-established amateur side Campsie Black Watch is facing an uncertain future after resigning from this season’s West of Scotland 21s Youth League due to a player shortage.

After 72 years in 21s football, attaining success unequalled in Scotland, the club committee said it had no alternative but to take a break in the competition and relaunch next season.

A statement said: “Players who had promised to join opted out of the challenge the club had to face. It is a puzzle club members cannot solve, thus taking the difficult decision to begin a non-playing season and come back in the future as strong as they want to be.”
