Campsie Minerva win cup tie and bragging rights over Waterside
WATERSIDE were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by local rivals Campsie Minerva in a hard-fought game, played at Kirkintilloch High in atrocious weather conditions.

Side had the better of the first half with G. Passmore forcing a save from the Minerva keeper, pushing his shot round the post, on six minutes.
Campsie had a chance on 14 minutes, from a corner but the header was off target.
A shot from M. Fitzsimmons on 18 minutes went the wrong side of the post. Tooth’s speculative shot two minutes later was saved.
G. Passmore had one shot from the edge of the box which went wide, the second was well saved by the Minerva keeper.
Barr was called into action in the 39th minute, saving well from a 30-yard free kick.
Minerva opened the scoring two minutes into the second half – Kemmitt firing home at the back post, from a corner which appeared to hit the hand of a Minerva forward. The goal was allowed to stand.
Minerva’s Kemmit – just back from suspension – was Campsie’s best player.
In the 55th minute, O’Donnell broke down the right hand side and his cross was cleared, just wide of the front post by the fortunate Minerva back.
From the resulting corner, Caldwell’s delivery was met at the front post by O’Donnell, but his header was just wide.
Side were pushing for the equaliser and were awarded a free kick 20 yards out when M. Fitzsimmons was fouled.
His driven free kick was parried by the keeper and the rebound was well saved to deny Waterside a goal.
In the 65th minute O’Donnell’s header, from a corner, hit the post and went out.
Thomson replaced Tooth on 75 minutes to assist lone striker Carr up front.
Carr was through on goal with 10 minutes to go, but his effort was well saved by the Minerva keeper.
Stewart later replaced the injured Caldwell.
With three minutes left Minerva hit the advancing Waterside with a counter attack, scoring their second.
McLaughlin gave Barr no chance.
Waterside will return to league action next Saturday.
